Leaving the Regiment
The Annual Posting Season has caught up with two of the Regiments’ hardest working members.
Capt ian Smith, the Adjutant, and 2nd Lieutenant Dean Kiriacou, the Administration Officer, have done an outstanding job of manning Regimental Headquarters since the centralized Brigade Orderly Room took all the Class B clerks to Dennison Armoury over a year ago.
Captain Smith’s posting location han’t been announced publicly yet and Second Lieutenant Kiriacou will be heading to CFB Borden to qualify for his trade qualification.
Our deepest thanks to both for their hard work in support of all branches of the Regimental Family and our best wishes for their success in the future.
Museum Update
The good news at the Museum keeps on coming.
Visitor numbers have now topped 2500 since the opening in May of 2024, and they are continuing to leave very positive comments in the guest book. Community groups are reaching out to book room use for meetings. The Brampton Girl Guides program initial booking led to two more Guide groups booking visits.
The new TV show “Boston Blue,” a spinoff from the recently ended series “Blue Bloods” has reached out to the Museum about possibly filming inside and the exterior. The series is scheduled to premiere in the fall, so keep an eye out to see if the Museum appears.

The Museum display “VE Day 80: Faces of Victory” had a very successful launch with over 100 visitors to the Museum on the unveiling day. The exhibit is still running, so drop in to take a look. Peel Art Museum and Archives (PAMA) is co-operating with the Museum by displaying the uniform of Col C.A. Hamilton OBE as an attraction item for the display. If you don’t know who Col Hamilton was, drop in to the Museum and ask about him.
Ryan Goldsworthy, the Director of Collections attended the first two days of the Organisation of Military Museums of Canada (OMMC) annual course in Hamilton in early June while Stewart Sherriff, the Curator, attended the whole week of seminars, presentations and visits to museum in the Hamilton area. Richard Ruggle, the Museum Historian and former Treasurer of the OMMC, gave an interesting presentation about the military history of the Hamilton area to the Course.
Captain David Fimio, the Museum Secretary, and Mr. Alex Muller, our outstanding volunteer, represented the Museum at the Georgetown Highland Games on the 14th of June. The weather was good, and the museum display got a lot of attention from the Games crowd. The display was co-located with a display about the Cadet program hosted by cadets from 676 Georgetown and 2990 Milton Cadet Corps and a display from the serving regiment.
The Museum has recently received a large donation of books (50 boxes) from a collector in Calgary. They have been checked in. A big thank you to all those who helped to sort through all the boxes and list out the contents

Under new direction, the museum has now built a robust and highly engaged volunteer team. Our volunteer team has been working directly with collections, photography, research, renovation, and exhibition projects. Part of this team has included museum studies students from Centennial College, Fleming College, the University of Toronto, and Jean Augustine Secondary School.
Although the Museum continues to professionalize as a leading regimental museum in Canada, we are still building our team. We are actively recruiting new volunteers. If you would like to get involved in any capacity, please contact us at: museum@lornescots.ca
