Known for his story telling and sense of humour, Bernard died surrounded by family on August 28, two weeks shy of his 96th birthday. He had time to greet everyone he met, sometimes in foreign languages his family didn’t know he could speak, and had a joke for every occasion. He kept his sense of humour and the nurses laughing until his last breath.
